Your UGA Membership provides multiple
avenues to post your recreational and tournament
golf scores. Posting your scores can be done at
any UGA computer located in the golf shops of
member clubs, online on the UGA.org website or
with the new GHIN/UGA Mobile App.
There are two basic principles behind the
practice of posting scores. You must try to make
the best score at each hole in every round, and
Many golfers believe scores cannot be posted if
an entire 9- or 18-hole round is not completed.
That is not the case. All of the following are

of “preferred lies”.
If you skip a hole or don’t play it according to
the Rules of Golf, you must post a score of par
plus any handicap strokes you would receive.
In other words: Your Course Handicap is 6. You
cannot play the par 5 15th hole because it is
under construction. The 15th is rated the third
handicap-stroke hole on the golf course. For
recording purposes, your score on the 15th hole
is x- 6. The ‘x’ indicates that you did not actually
play the hole, and the ‘ 6’ is your adjusted score
from par ( 5), plus 1 for your handicap. (If your
Course Handicap is 2, the adjusted score would
be a par ( 5). You would not get the ‘ 1’ for the
If you play a mulligan, you should post par plus any
strokes you would receive on the hole as your score,
not the score that you made with the mulligan.
If you start, but do not complete a hole or are
conceded a stroke, you must record the score you

UGA Changes for 2014
Over the past 3 years, the UGA has noticed a
downturn in the number of members who purchase
a ‘Multiple Club Membership’. Reasons for this
have to do with the ease of score posting via the
GHIN service, as well as the ability for clubs,
league presidents and tournament directors to
retrieve this information through GHIN tools
such as www.ghin.com. UGA members can post
scores in multiple ways. The GHIN/UGA Mobile
App on your smartphone or tablet has become
access your information. It is available for both
Android and Apple devices. To locate the app
do a search for GHIN Mobile in your app store.
Once installed with your GHIN# and Last Name,
all your records are at your fingertips.
Scores can also be posted at www.uga.org, or
at any UGA score posting machine located at all
UGA Member Golf Clubs.
With multiple score-posting avenues, there is
little need for members to purchase more than one
membership. The UGA is eliminating the multiple
membership fee of $5 and UGA members can
now belong to one club. If a member would like
to have an additional club the fee will be $32.
