Deeply rooted in Utah golf tradition, The Country Club
will welcome back the Utah State Amateur in July as the
tournament host for the first time in 37 years.
A history that dates back to the legendary George
Von Elm’s victory in 1921, only a few months after
the new venue was open for play, will be extended
through the 2012 event. This is a course that’s been
played by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, by Bob
Hope and Bing Crosby, and even by Babe Ruth.
Yet nothing distinguishes The Country Club’s long
tradition quite like the Utah State Amateur, going
back to its founding at Gilmer Park in 1899.
This edition of Fairways 18 celebrates the ties between
The Country Club and Utah Golf.
